Variation

This list had a great conversation on variation a while back. I am wondering
if anyone could suggest resources, people, articles, publications, etc. on
the concept of variation. (I would like to put together the basics on the
concept for a small group of nonprofit leaders.) Additionally, I am
interested developing a chart reflection variation in one of the
organizations. Scatter grams seem to be an effective way to do this---any
thoughts?
