I wouldn't offer that advice. Why get your information second, third 
and fourth hand delivered by a writer with no background in the area 
he is writing about?

but if people think that's necessary, make sure to cross-evaluate by 
going to the source research, looking carefully at the designs and 
results (and how statistics are used), and particularly how Kohn 
interprets the findings of those individual studies.

..and if people can't be bothered to do the work, they deserve what 
they get.
