RE: SPC on the rocks
Make mine a fine Cabernet, thank you...
>it's true, you can plug any set of numbers into a formula, generate a
centerline and some control limits, and produce a control chart. If
the
chart doesn't answer questions of interest, or gives misleading
answers, it
is at best an academic exercise and at worst misleading and harmful.<
I like Wheeler on this aspect - "Description is not analysis."
I can see the value in this discussion as it applies to the greater
good, that the material presented in/by the DEN be:
1. Educational
2. Inspirational
3. Practical
Educational (as may be provided by Four-day Seminars, Red Bead and
Funnel Experiments (and others still to be created);
Inspirational (as may be provided by senior DEN members in their
respective areas of expertise); and,
Practical (as may be provided by those members who, in their daily
activities, find ways to extend system-based approaches and SoPK).
I submit there is no shortage of life to be benefited in the world,
only a shortage of understanding. What we shall choose to do is
entirely up to us.
As for me, make it a Continually Improving experience despite the
hazards...oh, and a fine Cabernet, thank you.
Regards,
