Many people asked why Deming's philosophy was not more widely adopted. Many wondered why "Deming' didn't work.
What is it about the Deming philosophy that is so difficult?
Is it that transformation is not understood? Do people know what it really is? What is the operational definition? what does it mean to transform?
Transformation is fundamental, yet unless leaders, natural leaders (everyone can choose to transform) in an organization transform, change the way they think and act, continually challenging their mindset and what they do, we will not understand Deming and make the difference he cahllenged us to make.
Because when we transform, we Can not go back to the old way of thinking. Change is not enough. Change can be temporary, go forwards or backwards, be better or worse.
But transformation is powerful. And some people and some organizations have had the experience. We each have the opportunity.
