Robert,
I understand your dilemma and feelings. I, too, experienced the same
rejection with a now defunct company, Compaq Computers. I was the Director
of Quality and Customer Satisfaction for the IM Division. My attempts to
improve performance and provide for continuing operation of the processes
resulted in my 'demotion' when another person was hired over me. This
person had NO quality management background, and ended up fired for lack of
performance. Me, I left for greener pastures. My initiatives, which
languished under the then CIO (also fired) and VP of IM (now a senior VP at
HP), were picked up by others and eventually implemented (5-7 years later)
and have become show-pieces. The culture was simply inappropriate for
change and actively resistant as these senior managers were afraid they
would be asked ,"Why didn't you do this sooner..."
"Education should implant a will and a facility for learning; it should
produce
not learned but learning people. In times of change, learners inherit the
earth,
while the learned find themselves equipped to deal with a world that no
longer
exists." (Eric Hoffer)
