A liitle whatever . . .

In light of recently expressed concerns for education,
and the exchanges regarding data/information, where
it seems that agreement has been reached that what
is information to some may well be data to others -
though we should, I suspect, have an awareness that
some use "data" and "information" interchangeably -
I thought it might be as well to set the record in regard
to the "adage" quoted by Myron Tribus.

The quotation should read:

    A little learning is a dang'rous thing:
Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring.

I think the lines following may also have a relevance:

There shallow draughts intoxicate the brain,
And drinking largely sobers us again.

I guess we all have to start somewhere, but too often in
the process of "education", learning is equated solely
with the giving of information.
