Quality Improvement

Hi all

A quick word from a lurker down here in New Zealand. I should say that firstly a lot of what is discussed on this forum goes way over my head. My knowledge of Deming is at a very basic level- I have bought the Managing Chaos and Complexity book (complete title escapes me) and am battling my way through it - somewhat hard going. I'm more used to Charles Handy and the like

I note on the recent discussion that there has been some comment on improvements. This is topical for me as I am trying to change the culture here from one where everyone sits in there little cubicles to one where some free wheeling discussion and ideas for improvement can take place. People here have become averse to meetings and they are seen as talk shops where there is no real outcome. I am planning to put some parameters around proposed meetings such as minutes/ agendas/action points and the like which everyone must stick to, also time limits on meetings and the backing of Senior management and may be it will fly.

Any further suggestions would be appreciated also I would appreciate any information that will help me apply Demings thinking to a software design work environment

Many thanks

Alastair Cox
