RE: Six Sigma & Deming Philosophies!

>It certainly has been well promoted by Welch and others, but I
suspect it's lots of sizzle with not a whole lot of steak...<

I'd go so far as to say that Six Sigma is akin to an over-the-counter
medication; easily obtained, fairly expensive, and with sometimes
nasty side-effects.

Hey, the doctor didn't prescribe it, but now the body is addicted to
it. It makes you feel good, at least for a while, and so you recommend
it to others, friends and associates. And so it goes, those who took
your recommendation now won't have anything else, regardless of the
cost.

Ever try to apply for a position having anything to do with "quality"?
You get bonus points if you even touched Jack Welch's book, or have a
black belt in anything, even though it is hanging on the wall at home.

That is the damage done in the real world to real people, by blind
adherence to some vague idea by some womanizing old fart. But, I
digress.

Quickie fixes, like much publicized medications, are just that. Sooner
or later, if one survives, you must find another means of
self-healing; harmony after all is complementary, coordinated,
cooperative activity of all vital organs, including the brain, and
purple pills just won't suffice.

Where's my black belt???

Regards,
