Deming's 6th Deadly Disease

Lest anyone doubt that America still suffers from Dr. D's 6th Deadly Disease 
(Excessive Medical Costs) I invite you to review the February edition of 
Governing magazine (my classes on the Deming management approach are now studying 
it). There your will find 7 articles, plus the publisher's column (basically, 
the entire edition), conclusively demonstrating the presence and growing impact 
of this Deadly Disease. The publisher's words sum it up very well, "Clearly 
there is a health crisis in America, but it is in no way a medical problem. It 
is a fiscal problem." He continues, "In most areas we cover....there is 
usually at least some incremental mount of progress at any given time. That is not 
the case with health care, we're sliding backwards."
