RE: A question for clarification

One stream of ideas that sheds some light on these recent set of interactions about new knowledge needing to come from outside the system is related to the concept of paradigm shifts.  For those who are interested, Joel Barker has a very accessible book - Future Edge that discusses paradigm shifts.  While he tends to use the concept of paradigm shift in a more expanded set of circumstances than Thomas Kuhn (the person who coined the term), the book is very interesting and helps to explain why some people have a difficulty with seeing why change is necessary and desirable and others do not.
