Members and guests,
Some Theory of Sampling, Appendix (p.593); "This is a portion of page
22 which was drawn at random from H. Burke Horton's - Random Decimal
Digits (Interstate Commerce Commission, 1949)."
Likewise, from Standard Adjustment of Data, Appendix (p.252); Tables
for Making Random Observations for Class Illustration, Part A. (Deming
notes that: "This table comes from a paper by Edward L. Dodd, Boletin
Matematico, Buenos Aires, Ano xv, 1942..." Further, ..."These numbers
were obtained from a transformation of the first two pages of
Tippett's - Random Sampling Numbers.
There doesn't seem to be any shortage of exchange of information on
random numbers by prominent individuals.
Additionally, it would appear that textbooks on such things as
business statistics contain sets of random numbers, but may not
provide the source or method of generation.
Regards,
__________
