Firstly I want to thank everybody who responded to my question re. Random Numbers. You have all been a great help in getting me to have a better understanding of the subject.

I am too busy, or too lazy, to roll a pair of dice, shuffle a deck of cards or flip a coin hundreds or thousands of times. The binomial formula calculates a probability of approximately 0.08 that 100 coin flips will produce exactly 50 heads. Simply substituting numbers ito a formula gives tha answer but brings no understanding. In a way I am going back to basics. I also want to create batches with known % defects and draw samples from these batches of different sizes. e.g. N=1000, n=50. The random numbers in the spreadsheet are used for sampling.

As an end-user of product released by implementation of acceptance sampling with little or no consideration for variation I am no longer satisfied with the risks involved. I am trying write up a critique of ISO 0152 (similar to ISO5022 "Guidelines for Sampling or Refractory bricks..." used by my suppliers.

Thank you for the help. If any of you out there have anything documentation in electronic format or templates that can help me learn more about this topic, please forward to me.

Thank You

Ian
