Re: Deming 2005 - Question 2 of 2 (SoPK)

Yes it would . Dr. Deming started talking about Profound Knowledge in 1989 . He finally gave it its present shape in 1990 . I do believe he was trying to give us something timeless - a theory that would stand the test of time . I remember one of the older messages of Myron Tribus with regards to Profound Knowledge . He had said that Dr. Deming had tickled his brain cells and asked him as to what were the minimum branches of knowledge one would need to understand and improve organisations . Myron Tribus then said that he went back to him with three sciences Systems Statistics ( as espoused by Shewhart ) Psychology He further said that he was amazed at Dr. Deming's final draft of Profound Knowledge and did admit that he missed out on the Theory of Knowledge which forms the most vital part . Actually unfair of me to say that - all are vital - but the Theory of Knowledge does not occur to us naturally as a science that poeple need to be made aware of ; and herein lies the genuis of Dr. Deming . So - coming back - yes ! SOPK would have been the bedrock of his philosophy even if TNE had not been released . Please reply to balaji@demingindia.org
