Jonathan Siegel raised some interesting questions about why it is a good idea for managers at the top of organizations to take a long term view in light of our current business climate. Some insightful answers to these types of questions can be found in the book The Loyalty Effect: The Hidden Force Behind Growth, Profits, and Lasting Value by Frederick Reichheld. In this book the author makes the case for why companies who actively seek loyal customers, loyal employees, and loyal investors are much more successful (profitable) than companies who do not act in this manner.
