Since discovering the DEN I have been searching for personal connections
between Deming and Drucker.
Only recently I stumbled upon some notes
<www.amstat.org/meetings/jsm/2001/deminginputs.doc> prepared by Gerry
Hahn made in preparation for the 2001 Deming Lecture. Therein Drucker is
reported to have written, "I last talked to Deming five days before his
death--he called to say Good Bye."
It seems a close, personal connection, yet these two men mention each
other's work only rarely, and then, only in passing.
My quest continues.
Thanks again,
Bob Clements
