RE: Drucker, Deming and Quality

Yes . I was at the Seminar where Gerry Hahn made this presentation on
Dr. Deming and I remember this . 

Dr. Deming mentioned of Peter Drucker in his book The New Economics . I
can't remember any other reference to Drucker in any other book or
article . And as you can see in that reference he credited Drucker with
thinking systemically when he spoke of MBO and in fact castigated people
for having misunderstood his statement . 

On the other hand Peter Drucker did not have very kind things to say of
Deming - I don't really remember the book I'm referring to but I do
remember him saying something to the tune of....."Deming's TQM is the
spit of Taylor's Scientific Management"...
Now all of us who have been associated with Dr. Deming's works know how
much he abhorred the term TQM and what he thought of Scientific
Management . This sentence then packs a mountain of misunderstanding in
a few words . 

It's sad to see that although Deming never had anything derogatory to
say of either Juran or Drucker - he spoke very highly of both in print ,
in his videos and in private - they never returned the compliments - on
the contrary they did not have very kind things to say of him whenever
they had the chance ! . 

That's why this personal note from Peter Drucker took me completely by
surprise .
