RE: No Conflict Between Deming's Ideas and Six Sigma

I see the whole structure of the six-sigma metric (with spec limits six
standard deviations away from a target value with a mean that moves +/- 1.5
standard deviations) to be part of the "slogan" problem with Six Sigma. It
is, in my opinion, a completely useless exercise, being "zero-defects" in
disguise, or worse since some view the resulting 3.4 parts per million
defect level as an acceptable quality level. The good news is that all of
this metric structure can be ignored with no effect on the actual
implementation of Six Sigma.
