RE: Why is a systems view important?

I see the importance of a system's view derived from having an aim.

Dr. Deming said that the aim defined a system and, furthermore, the aim
performs two functions. One, it defines the set of people or organizations
that are part of the system. Two, it defines what the system provides to the
defined system components. A key aspect of systems thinking is to recognize
that it is more than a set of things, but also includes expectations.

Having an aim unifies the actions of those within a system; without an aim,
there is no system, only a set of coexisting pieces.
