Re: SV: Scientific Method

Petter Ogland asks David Kerrige and all:

"And Deming's unique systems theory is a combination of the feedback systems
that Wiener writes about and the optimisation problems that Ackoff writes
about? In order to understand Deming, we have to study Cybernetics and
Operational Research?"

Due to a brilliant post by John Hunter, talking about Deming as a statistician and all others successful in Six Sigma and SoPK being statisticians, I begin to belive that the key to a more profound understanding of Deming's message lies in a combination of Zen Buddhism and the statistical view of the world. Perhaps the views are more or less the same when sufficient understanding has been achieved. Howard Gitlow talks about "The Way of the Statistician". He does not talk about "The Way of Deming" or "The Zen of Deming", but "The Way of the Statistician", meaning, perhaps, that what is important is more to think like a statistician than to think like Deming.

But, how does a statistician think?

John
