Follow up off Organization's Committment to WED

Has any research been done that looks at organizations X years after making a committment to the Philosophies of WED.  For instance, in the PBS film "The Deming of America", CEO's from Xerox, Ford, GM, P&G, The Navy and others made serious, top level committments to WED.  What has been the result of that committment?

As a long time Michigan resident, we have anecdotal evidence on what happened at Ford and GM, but nothing definive.  You can see pockets of his influence, but it appears that the executive committment has been lost.  Of course most of these CEO's have retired or died.
