RE: Where has the DEN been?

I am tired of this complaining. Deming taught us something. He taught us
to think. He taught us that systems ARE infused with internal and external
control loops. He taught us that people require attention. He taught us
that subsytems can be understood and modified through statistical methods.
All of that is known, by Deming, as the System of Profound Knowledge, by
Senge as "the Vth Discipline", by others, as "lean six sigma". Who cares
what it's called? People are doing some of the right things everywhere.
The most commonly missing part is "Psychology", although some big companies
have finally picked up on it. Let's stop bashing the 1.5 sigma mean shift
and start thinking about how to refine these popular methodologies without
bringing up the good Doctor's name to people who have never heard of him.
Once they know, once they understand, we can start telling them where it
comes from. Don't any of you have any marketing skills?
