Toyota executives would perhaps have been more forthcoming if asked whether 
they used the 5S's, Dr. Ishikawa's teachings, or the advice from JUSE. Dr. 
Deming is well respected in Japan but the view that they knew nothing of quality 
before he visited is not correct. Dr. Deming contributed greatly to their 
knowledge but they had been studying Dr. Taylor, the Gilbreaths and others before 
WWII. I suspect that people involved with JUSE, already knew of him from his 
work with Dr. Shewart.

Grin.  Just as there is no one best way to do something for all time and 
conditions, there is seldom just one teacher for a student.
