Up here in Canada we had a thing called the "Walkerton water tragedy". A
couple of brothers were running the drinking water system in the town of
Walkerton Ontario. They were not running the required water tests and
filled in the forms with bogus data. E. coli bacteria got into the water
system and went undetected, people died. I have often thought this could
have been avoided if the data had been publicly available, on the web,
updated daily, in the form of a control chart, but I have done nothing
about it :(
Good post JDK, we do find it easier to "preach to the choir" :)
