Hello:
I agree with much of what you say. While it is sometimes popular to scorn
Taylor's work, such treatment ignores the context in which he worked. A
huge change was underway in the work force. This force was changing from
rural agrarian type work where wide diversity of individual practice was the
norm to factory work where a certain degree of uniformity was desired.
It was Taylor's desire to reduce variation in practice and to do so in a
largely illiterate, rather unsophisticated work force.
