RE: System vs. Individual - B Coop

John
I think that I see what you are reaching for but I believe that "in depth
study of the internals of the process" may not be the right direction to
look in.

The countless decisions that have to be made in a simple act such as getting
home, defy definition.
The most in depth study possible would never be able to take care of all the
variables, which are infinite.

The reason that we are able to perform this hugely complex operation is
because there is a declared object, arriving home, and no rules that limit
our ability to achieve that object.

We succeed because we are allowed to use our own imagination and experience
such that when the direct route home is closed because the water main has
burst we are able to deal with that situation and still achieve our object.

In business we are beginning to understand that it is the application of
rules that limits the ability of the individual.

By creating the environment in which the individual is able to use their
accumulated skills and experience, instead of limiting them, we create the
conditions for success.

          Yours
