Bob makes a very intersting comment on Darwin's "origin of the species" and the philosophy of Deming/Shewhart. Is there a connection? I certainly think there is, because both are based on a statistical view of the world. In order to better understand Deming and Shewhart perhaps we should try to encourage more "random management" in both organizations and our own lives. Rather than thinking whether we should turn right or left, perhaps it would be better to throw a coin.
