Explaining Deming



Have you ever been explaining the 14 Points of Dr. Deming to members of  your 
organization (especially managers), and received a "Huh?"/blank stare in  
reply, and then recognized your need to reword your presentation in different  
language? And have you then got frustrated as your efforts at rephrasing didn't  
quite reach your audience? Well, now there is an article in a magazine that 
is  accepted by many as one of industries', standards that I believe you can  
use in just that role, either as an opening for your presentation which you can 
 then use as a basis to introduce the Deming approach, or as a clarification 
when  you get that "Huh?" response from your audience.  

The article is in the July 2006 edition of Quality Digest (p.37-39). It is,  
"Dear Boss," by Craig Cochran and is a great introduction, in today's accepted 
 management language, of the same principles that Dr. Deming formulated into 
the  14 Points. Having read it and dialogued on it I believe your attendees 
can be,  almost naturally, led to a deeper understanding of the quality points
