Ian Graham has been a friend for many years (not to be confused with an 'old
friend' :-).... and I too, appreciated his remarks.
However,
1. It is not true that nobody understood a word of what Deming was talking
about. I attended innumerable of his 4 day seminars and many people
understood perfectly well what he was saying, particularly about the
treatment of employees by management.
2. The 14 points is not a random list as Mr. Balor seems to imply.
3. Deming's so-called System of Profound Knowledge and Taylor's principles
of Scientific Management are not identical. One may wish to read my blog
entry on Taylor to get my point of view (which is not uncharitable toward
