Cliff
Very many thanks for this posting, and for the reminder about the work
being done by Christensen and Carlile.
I have been a little frustrated by some recent postings worrying about
the definition of "scientific", as I do not myself see management as a
science, but rather more as an art, layered above a systematic approach,
precisely because we are dealing with people, not machines.
I run an undergraduate programme, "Managing Performance", for people
wanting to work in the creative and cultural industries. We use
Deming's philosophy as a theoretical underpinning, with PDSA as a
practical framework on all project work, and I shall certainly be
slotting this article into an early session.
