The Next Wave

Dennis Kuzak, Group Vice President, Ford Motor Co., in charge of Product Development in America redefined our cadences.
What you are seeing is that revised cadence.

This statement was in a Detroit News article (web address http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060916/AUTO01/609160380/1148) Hopes rest on new models, by Christine Tierney. September 16, 2006: "We've redefined our cadences, recognizing the need to bring product to the market faster."

Maybe a thread should be started, nay, a college curriculum about the history, meaning and application of CADENCE.

"Earlier this year, Ford halted development on the truck for two months to add features after dealers said the vehicle needed to be more competitive. 'The results are substantial,' Fields said, 'including a full redesign of the product front to back and an even stronger powertrain lineup.'"

Fields is the number two guy at Ford. Is there anyone out there in Deming Land who truly believes that in a two month period a vehicle can be fully redesigned? But wait, maybe Mr. Fields has discovered a Star Wars method of accelerating the PDSA cycle; or is it the PDCA cycle to accomplish what no human has done before (Article address http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060916/AUTO01/609160380/1148).
