ISO 9001:2000 is based upon 8 "Quality Management Principles."
Principle 1 Customer Focus
Principle 2 Leadership
Principle 3 Involvement of people
Principle 4 Process approach
Principle 5 System approach to management
Principle 6 Continual improvement
Principle 7 Factual approach to decision making
Principle 8 Mutually beneficial supplier relationships
My understanding is that ISO 9001:1987 and ISO 9001:1994 were not based on
any principles.
Realizing that there was no aim (principles) for a ISO 9001 management
system, the 8 quality management principles were developed and became the
basis for the content of the 2000 version of ISO 9001.
Is it possible that these principles add an element of theory to ISO 9001?
Are principles, aim, and theory all different things?
