the ongoing homework thread

Surely, some homework is sensible and useful?  Learning some new foreign
language vocabulary, reading a chapter of a book for class discussions
the next day, practicing a new mathematical methodology, designing a
spreadsheet or database, reading the background to a historical event
etc.

But answering 20 maths sums, and being marked out of 20, and all these
scores being totalled up every 10 weeks or so, probably isn't. Because
mum or dad will do them to ensure 20/20.
