You may be familiar with Bloom's cognitive taxonomy.  The taxon he calls 
"translation" explains the different ways to make ideas and theories clear. 
Thoughtful examples are basic to advancing dialog.  A main obstacle, 
however, is the tendency for participants in this dialog to get stuck on the 
translation level--forever giving examples of what has already been made 
clear.  The biggests challenge, I think, is to develop a set of protocolos 
for a national dialogue on continuous improvement--protocos that make 
redundant examples out of order.
