For what it's worth, I used to work at the General Motors Tech Center in
Manufacturing Development.  We only worked on manufacturing processes
that we could not get any vendor interested in.  at the time some of
what we worked on was high energy impact forming, electrochemical
machining, large aluminum injection moldings, etc. As soon as a vendor
showed interest, we would turn the project over to them.
