Years ago I pointed out to Ken T. Delavigne that for *cargo cult*, we
need to go to the sociological studies and the *barbarians* have their
*science*. He replied that cargo cult is a bad science. My point was
cargo cult is very human. And it might be caused by the most
under-developed country trying to repackage Japanese arts and resell
their management style as a management science to other countries with
brand name called Shewhart's legacy.

I worked for Motorola before and know many people got their
*black-belts* but I din't know that the package is quite sophiscate now.
Congratulations for the new cargo. It makes most consulting companies
*stay in the business*.

But Bill should also remind us the re-birth of a star with a name like 6
Sigma or PPB or others will like one of Deming's most favorable figure:
Plot of the number of fires per month in a business establishment.( p.
324 of OOTC and other places in TNE, Deming's paper...)

Many people may believe Shewhart's(and Deming's) thinking that
statistics is a scientific way of looking at the universe. I think the
fires inside the cargo are not too many. Or they are too common?

Even someone makes some cases of this new path of frustration into
*examples of costly misunderstanding*, the fires will have their new
phenixes.

Bill, you came from banking and you should heard about creative
accounting(in OOTC also).

A consultant always carrys a briefcase with many cargoes. Now you might
know the unknown *fire sermons* in my website.
