FW: Network Engineer Bonus Program



Steve,

I think you are heading in the right direction by eliminating
the bonus program, but first you need to establish the aim
for your department.

You need to explain that the department focus is on 
customer satisfaction.  You will need to do this weekly
(or even daily) by both word and deed for the next 6 months.
After explaining the aim for the first time, then you can 
explain your concerns about the bonus program and that
you are eliminating it.  You should then budget the old
bonus money in the manner that best meets your aim.
You can spend it on training, equipment, or a department
wide bonus.  You can get your staff to make recommendations
as to how the money is spent, but it must directly support
the aim.

You are taking the right approach.  Just be sure to set
the aim for your department and repeat it often.
