People vs. Psychology



Subject: People vs Psychology

It is good to see what used dr. Deming. On page 107 The New Economics
Ch. 4 Deming had help from a number friends who contributed to the
Psychology section of SoPK. It was written in that:" Psychology helps us
to understand people, interact between people and circumstances,
interaction between customer and supplier, interaction between teacher
and pupil, interaction between a manager and his people and system of
management".  He used people as he wanted to explain some details, but
in the basic we can not replace psychology with people as far I can see.
Psychology has a theory of how mankind function. This is the science. We
need to know the theory. Using 'people' means to talk always about our
practice. There are a lot of theories in psychology, and this is their
problem of this science: not practical. Deming talked about knowledge
of psychology:
	"1. Psychology helps us to understand people .........
	 2. People are different from one another. ....
	 3. People learn in different ways ........
	 4. A leader has obligation to make changes in the system of
management that will bring improvement.
	 5. There is intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation,
over-justification.
Psychology helps us to nurture and preserve positive innate  attributes
of people"
He also said that "Psychologists tell us about over justification which
means payment in money to somebody  for  an act...... If psychologists
understood variation............they could no longer participate in
continual refinements of instruments for rating people". It means that
he was not satisfied for what classical psychologists did. This is the
other problem, but this is not reason to change the psychology to the
people. Classical psychologists support competition, ranking people etc.
The classical psychology is tool of our present style of management
which is " biggest producer of waste, causing huge losses whose
magnitudes can not be evaluated." We need a new psychology which
explains that lead-management is a management where people can satisfy
their human basic needs and produce the quality.
