Rewarding performance under cooperation




Moderator's Note: Antun is referring to rewards and rewarding in the following.

It was good David's explanation about rewording: "System automatically
gives greater rewords to the best performers. It provides job
satisfaction, but only if you value the things that make you valuable to
the company". 

There are Five Common Questiuons and Deming's response:
	What do you put in place of performance appraisal?
		Do you have to replace one disease by another?
	What about people who take no pride in their work, come just for
the money etc.?
		They've been beaten down by the system; it's not their
folt.
	How do you satisfy the need of employees for objective
evaluation?
		It can't be done - that's why we're here. We'd better
keep on studying.
	Why are performance appraisal systems proliferating throughout
America?
		Ihere is no substitute for ignorance.
	How do you compensate and promote people?
		I would consider anything but ranking.

Not knowing what are people's need each uses what it is common and
visual: the things like money and goods. We see someone on his face that
is happy showing his house, car or money. But do we know the processes
which are involved in the mind of a man who showes to us the new hause?
This is the some theory as we say that the night is coming because the
day is over. The night and day connection does not mean causal relation.
Why we learned that there are some planets like The Earth and The Moon
and there is very specific relation betwwen them causes day and night.
If we want to undestand that the problem is, we have too know the
theory. What we have to do if we want to inlarge the day?!
Now we need to have psychology which explains how realy mankind
function. If people say that they are satisfy with reword, it doas not
mean that there is cause-response relation. If from 100 people 99 are
more satisfy with graduation (usually teachers who evaluate) what is
with this one? What will be the aksiom of gravitation if some methals
will fall down and some not? We need the psychology which is in basisis
for all mankind. We are abble to fly to the Moon, but we do not know do
we respond on outside stimulus or whatever is outside us is only the
information. Our managers know a lot of their technical part of the job.
People believe them in this part. But when a manager has to deside about
holiday of the worker, he has the some knowlidge about it as the workers
know. He desides the some what the worker will desides if he were a
manager. 
I used to have workshops for the managers where there are two groups of
them sitting in two circul: the one is inside and the other is outside.
The inside cirlce has the subject: talk about motivation. The outside
circle has to listen and writte what the inside circel has in
conversation. When they are finish the outside reports. After this I
asked all: If there were workers what will be their discusion?The answer
is alwys: simmilar. Our managers need perfectly and theoreticly good
knowledge what is motivation and what to do with it. There will be no
quality with the knowledge what managers today know about psychology.
