Considerable differences. One of the best sources for a "quick" view of
Knowledge Management is the Knowledge Management Journal at:
http://www.kmmag.com/
where you can access current and previous issues, articles, etc..
Much positive can, IMO, be said about KM, but it is not a substitute or
"improvement" on WED's teachings or theories. Most especially it divides its
subject focus into 5 subcategories: 1. Technology,
2. Industry,
3. Strategies,
4. Organization, and
5. Process,
which, on examination, both individually, and in sum, fall far short of the
SoPK, beginning with missing some of the critical, relational elements of
WED's Knowledge of Systems.
It does, however, offer an extreme improvement in the tools and procedures
that can be used in developing a further understanding and appreciation of
the SoPK. Likewise, IMO, it can be used by a leader with PK, to lead others
to an appreciation of WED's approach as the next needed phase in KM.
