RE: Where is the Evidence?
A national news program last night, in the follow up of the recent crash
in Arkansas, said that Boeing (note: an aircraft manufacturer) did a
study of recent crashes, that claimed that 70% of all crashes were due
to incorrect pilot decisions.
The best example of "pilot error" I heard was when I was taking a Human
Factors course at the Naval Postgraduate School. A pilot had managed to
eject himself from his Navy fighter during a landing approach. Of
course it was attributed to pilot error.
An accompanying problem was that in the type of plane that the pilot
normally flew, the lever at his left hand side lowered the landing gear.
On the plane he was actually flying, a very similarly placed lever
ejects the pilot.
