It is just as easy to make mistakes today as it was in the past. Just ask
the folks who were on the American Airlines flight #1420 which crashed on
attempted landing Monday evening while flying into Little Rock, Arkansas.
The piolt was responsible (he controlled the final decision) of deciding
whether or not to land in a bad rainstorm. He chose to land and at least
nione people died, including the pilot who made the decision. While it will
take a year to sort out the reasons, the early evidence certaintly points to
some form of pilot error concerning the safety of the landing conditions.

Back to Carlos' question: What does this tell us?

[Moderator's Note: It looks like we have out work cut out for us... we
keep seeing examples of anecdotal evidence (as above) which would lead
the reader to believe that a human decision is a totally *independent*
variable. Perhaps the Lloyd Dobbins "School of Journalistic SoPK?"
