Perhaps we should all be encouraged that the current draft of ISO9001:2000
includes in Clause 5.4 Policy:
Top management shall eatblish its quality policy and ensure that it:
d) is communicated, understood and implemented throughout the organisation;
as well as Clause 5.6.4 Internal Communication:
The organisation shall establish and maintian procedures for internal
communication between the various levels and functions regarding the quality
management system and its effectiveness.
Not perhaps earth shattering, but definitely, when allied to the new emphasis on
continuous improvement, and the real efforts to ensure that 'top management'
are required to 'walk the talk', a step in the right direction.
