I wondering what companies people are talking about in the auto industry that 
found a new way which was "on target with minimum variance"?  Is is toyota 
who uses control charts?  Is it Nissan who uses control charts?  Is it Honda? 
 Is it Ford?  Is it General Motors or Chrysler?  I have seen no real use of 
the control chart at any of these organizations.  There are very few examples 
of people who use the control chart to find and eliminate special causes.  
Now if your looking for Cpk number you can find them all over the place.

Shewhart's thinking does not live in the auto industry in terms of practices. 
 It does live in some manuals.
