Re: Philip Crosby Quality philosophy

Ana I can not answer your question, as i do not know what Deming thought,
I can only relay opinions developed from indirect exposure to both.

When attending Crosby seminars I was discouraged by the glitz and show.
They emphasized quality but did not address any methods except be aware of
and meet specifications.

Lots of banners, and slogans encouraging us to make it right.

Deming's approach was more substantiative with more methods for making it
work right.

Use spc, work,on the process, find causes, measure the impact of change,
study the way you work, understand the way you work causes the problem not
the person. etc.

Crosby was right but not complete in my opinion. So doing what the said did
not make quality better. I believe his successor organization has adopted
a more complete philosophy in recent years.
