It is useful to distinguish between evaluation and grading.  Evaluation
means measurement according to given standards.  This is useful.  Grading
represents ranking people one against the other.  In addition, by limiting
the number of "A's" an artificial scarcity is created, students are forced
to compete with one another and about half the class then becomes "losers".
Grading is a bad idea.  Evaluation can be very helpful.
