Unless you can prove ("show me the data") that the results are assignable 
causes and that investigation proves attributable to the individual student, 
all grades are tampering (attributing to the individual what was accomplished 
by the system) and can do nothing but harm. Of course we want/need to get rid 
of grades (TNE, pp. 149-157)
