The following is part of a leadership experiment for improvement of DEN
discussion.
 
The Aim: To develop a method by which the DEN collectively discovers by
review of Deming's text, the attributes or qualities that Deming ascribed to
good leaders or good leadership.
 
USING ONLY ONE to FOUR WORDS, please describe the ATTRIBUTE(s),
characteristic(s), or quality(ies) of a good leader or good leadership that
are evidenced by the Deming quotation below:

14.  p. 117, Out of the Crisis,

A leader will discover who if any of his people is (a) outside the system on 
the good side, (b) outside on the poor side, (c) belonging to the system.  
The calculations required (illustrated on p.  114, Chapter 11, and elsewhere) 
are fairly simple if numbers are used for measures of performance.  Ranking 
of people (outstanding down to unsatisfactory) that belong to the system 
violates scientific logic and is ruinous as a policy, as may be clear from 
the text and from Chapter 11.
