I have read this thread with interest and find most if not all comments
consistent with my thinking on this subject. In my consulting practice I
have found WED most helpful in that simple ALWAYS works best with clients, a
lesson I learned the hard way. The concept of AIM is a good starting point.
I say starting point because I have found it necessary to define Quality in
relationship to the AIM each time I begin working with a client. Once the
client has been able to articulate their AIM it is then possible to design
methods to assess if it is being achieved - Quality. One last note; IMHO,
and I believe WED's, the AIM starts with the customers and all others who
are in some way impacted by the AIM's achievement or lack of achievement.
An AIM that is self-serving or focused solely inward is a recipe for
disaster.
