The most important things --- measured.

Could we possibly has some discussion on WED's oft quoted line, "The most important things cannot be
measured".    I am reminded of the Lord Kelvin (William Thompson) remark (paraphrased from memory),
"If one cannot measure a phenomenon, one does not understand it."

I have the feeling that often WED's comment is thrown out to support a point of discussion other
than in the way it was intended.
