Myron,
I never said he had an SoPK approach (outside of some DEN members you won't
find anyone with that). What I noted was that:
" that shows the GROWING AWARENESS of the absence of (WHAT WE, AS STUDENTS OF
WED, WOULD CALL) a SoPK view (especially the critical need for a view based
on "the system" vs. the parts).
The article is not a "Gee, Dr. D. was right." But IMHO does reflect a
positive shift away from "parts centered approaches" to a need for "more."
It represent OPPORTUNITY. Here is a regonized consultant from the
conventional mangement community (which, let's be hones, represents well over
80% of business and industry [exceptions being so few as to clearly be
"special cause" variations]) who sees the need for "more." He admits that he
doesn't know the answer (how could he know?), and invites input:
"If you're waiting for an answer from me, you'll be disappointed. I don't
have one. This is a thorny, nontrivial problem, so instead of an answer, I
can offer only a plaintive cry: Why must it be thus?"
Sound to me just like I said, an opportunity to share the/our answer to the
"need for a view based on "the system" vs. the parts."
